The Best TV Cliffhangers of 2017

We don't know what was more intense: Viserion turning into an ice dragon, destroying the wall, and making way for the army of the dead to wreak havoc on Westeros or Jon and Dany's steamy hookup. Until 2019!

My heart was literally racing as a pregnant June was being whisked away by the men of Eye (or not the Eye if we trust Nick). And as satisfying as it was to see Luke embrace Moira after she finally made it to Canada, we were all left wondering, "What now?!" We'll have to wait until the next season to find out.

While yes, Fred Andrews was definitely not going to die after getting shot in the Season One finale back in May, I was still very distraught watching him hit the floor. Just when you thought the murder mystery was solved, an even crazier one starts to unfold (watch the first half of season two, which came out in October of this year, if you want your brain to explode). 

In one of the craziest plot twists of the year, we find out in the first season finale that Eleanor is actually in hell, not heaven like we thought all season long! What now?! 

So much to unpack here: Our favorite main characters possibly awaiting their deaths in the drained swimming pool; the rest of the inmates getting shipped off to who knows where; and of course the heart-wrenching separation between Flaca and Maritza that had me crying on my couch. Can ANYTHING good ever happen on this show? (Yes, yes. I know it takes place in jail.) 

After teasing us with a will-they-won't-they for the entire season, Dev and Francesca were heading toward "they won't" territory, I was pretty sure. Until the final moments of the season finale, reminiscent of  The Graduate, showed Dev and Francesca waking up in the same bed together, after she was supposed to go back to Italy with her fiancé. What?! 

The Season Two finale of our favorite nostalgia-filled show doesn't quite feel like a cliffhanger until we're reminded that the Upside Down and the scary AF Mind Flayer are looming over (under?) Hawkins, even if Eleven and the gang can't see them.

I think the cliffhanger here rested mostly on the fact that we thought we were going to find out how Jack dies. But obviously, we don't (and after half of Season Two ... we still don't). After Jack left the house post-impassioned speech about his love for Rebecca, I think I can speak for everyone when I say: We. Need. More.
